On April 25, a private tasting of a wide selection of Malbec wines from Argentina was held at the Lobby Lounge of the Hyatt Regency Sukhumvit Hotel in Bangkok, as a late celebration of World Malbec Day, which is commemorated every April 17.
More than 100 wine lovers attended and got the chance to taste several of the best Argentine Malbec labels, supplied by six Thai importing companies:
-Ambrose (representing Kaiken winery)
-Boozia (representing Luigi Bosca winery)
-Enoteca (representing Norton winery)
-H.P. Supply (representing Viniterra winery)
-Independent Wines & Spirits (representing Catena Zapata winery)
-Noble Marketing (which supplied Malbec labels from different wineries)
Welcoming remarks were given by Sammy Carolus, General Manager of the Hotel, and the Argentine Ambassador Gustavo Alberto Martino, who highlighted that Malbec - a grape originally from France - has become the flagship wine variety of Argentina, where 75% of the world’s Malbec are produced.
In addition to tasting the best wine, attendees were able to witness a superb tango dance performed by the Argentine tango teacher Iván Sánchez and Mme. Francine Hostein, a French lady who loves tango and has dedicated her life to this dance and musical genre born in Buenos Aires.
