On June 6, Argentine Ambassador Claudio Ricardo Gutiérrez and his spouse, Raquel Bibiana Chaparro Gómez, took part in the fashion show for the “15th Celebration of Thai Silk: Thai Silk Road to the World”, held at the Royal Thai Navy Convention Centre, in which representatives from 90 countries participated through their diplomatic and consular missions.
This fashion show is an initiative to showcase the beauty and richness of the Thai silk through the engagement of foreign diplomats based in Bangkok, who also get the chance of promoting the culture and tourism of the countries that they represent, including by wearing their traditionals costumes.
Against a backdrop of beautiful tourism images of Argentina, Ambassador and Mme. Chaparro Gómez showcased outfits inspired by the traditional clothing of the “gauchos”, the legendary Argentine cowboys that inhabited the Argentine Pampas.
These outfits were tailored by talented young designers from the Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU), in northeastern Thailand, who used the beautiful Thai silk provided by the Support Foundation of Queen Sirikit, the late Queen Mother.
By the way, in addition to the “gaucho” features, you can see how the Ms. Chaparro Gómez’s outfit also features the blue tones inspired by the colours of the Argentine flag and the flowers decorating the vest inspired by the sun of May on the flag.
The Argentine Embassy wishes to congratulate the organizers on such successful event and the previous professional preparation and coordination with so many participating Embassies.
A big and special thanks and appreciation goes also to the Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU) students for their enthusiasm and their great job.
