On July 4, a high-level delegation from the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries of the Argentine Ministry of Economy paid a visit to Bangkok to attend meetings organized by the Argentine Embassy with different local counterparts.
The delegation was composed of the Undersecretary of Agrifood Markets and International Integration, Agustín Tejeda, and the National Director of International Cooperation and Coordination of the Secretariat, Santiago Bonifacio.
At first, Tejeda and Bonifacio, accompanied by the Chargé d'Affaires of the Argentine Embassy Javier De Cicco and the Head of its Economic Section Juan Pablo Volken, attended a meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC) of Thailand.
The MOAC delegation was headed by Deputy Permanent Secretary Taworn Thunjai, who was flanked by officials from the Department of Livestock Development (DLD), the Department of Agriculture (DOA), and the Department of Fisheries (DOF).
At the meeting, which was also attended by representatives from the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, several subjects concerning trade in agricultural products were discussed, as well as technical cooperation projects between the two countries.
A central topic of the meeting was the urgent need for Thailand to lift the suspension on imports of bovine products from Argentina, in effect since January 2025, and adopted by DLD despite Argentina's strict compliance with all sanitary requirements.
