June 2026 | Pledge of allegiance to the Argentine flag

In a very emotional ceremony, Ambassador Claudio Ricardo Gutiérrez received on June 24 the pledge of allegiance to the Argentine flag to four new Argentine citizens residing in Bangkok: Juan Ignacio, Nadine Arella, Raquel, and Hazriq.

The pledge was preceded by the singing of the Argentine National Anthem and the song "Aurora," popularly known as "Saludo a la Bandera" (Salute to the Flag), which in Argentina we all sing every morning after arriving at primary school.

Following these songs and before the oath, two recorded video messages were played, one from Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno and the other from Minister of Human Capital Sandra Pettovello, in which both highlighted the significance of this solemn act.

In Argentina, the pledge of allegiance to the Argentine flag is often made on June 20, Argentine Flag Day, by boys and girls attending the fourth grade of primary school.

However, as the Ambassador emphasized, there is no expiration date for this promise, so children or adults who have not previously made it can also make it at any point in their lives.

Such was the case of Juan Ignacio and Nadine Arella, originally from Honduras, who obtained Argentine citizenship "by option" at this very Argentine Embassy.

Meanwhile, Ms. Raquel Chaparro Gómez, Ambassador's wife, and Hazriq Nor, the spouse of an Embassy diplomatic officer, obtained Argentine citizenship by naturalization.
